The Lady Mustangs took 3rd place in the finals of the two-night SVC League meet, hosted by Westfall for the first time since 1998. Peyton Proffitt was the lone league champion for the girls clearing a school-record 9’3 in the pole vault. Second-place finishers included Mahaley Farmer in the 400 dash, the 4×200 relay team (Emily Vaughn, Kasi Green, Maddie Kitchen, and Farmer), the 4×400 relay team (Kayla Fleischmann, Green, Kitchen, and Farmer), and Proffitt in the long jump. Third place finishers included the 4×800 relay team (Abbie Ogle, Madi Brown, Marissa Mullins, and Grace Wolfe), the 4×100 relay team (Madison Miller, Mackenzie Price, Kasi Green, amd Emily Vaughn), Gabby Patete in the 300 hurdles, Grace Wolfe in the 800, Kasi Green in the 200, and Ashley Hegarty in the high jump.
The boys team finished 4th overall with 81 points, just 1 away from third place. Marcus Whaley was boys meet medalist with 29.5 pts overall. Whaley took first in the 110 and was just .02 seconds from a school record in the 300 hurdles. Second place finishers included Whaley in the pole vault, and the 4×800 relay team (Preston Clifton, Tyler Shipley, Dakota Warren, and Ethan Holman). Third place finishes were taken by Ethan Holman in the 800 and the 4×400 relay team (Whaley, Cody Thompson, Tyler Shipley, and Holman). Fourth-place finishers include Charles Flunder in the 100 hurdles, and Preston Clifton in the 1600.
Both teams will run in the district meet on Tuesday, 5/14 at 4PM and Saturday 5/18 at 10AM at Washington Court House.
